Sofu Teshigahra Originator of Sogetsu School for Flower-Arrangement
Ryufusha Publishing Co. Ltd Tokyo Japan, printed in Japan, hardcover, illustrated. Reprinted in 1956, first published in 1950.
Foreword
"Ikebana" (flower-arrangement) of the Sogetsu-School we are studying has especially rich artistic characteristics among those of the various schools of Japanese flower-arrangement, not to mention the fact that arrangements of this school should be the original work of the student in which he has shown his own individuality.
This book of flower-arrangements contains five entirely new works, namely the illustration will be found on the page 3,5,13, 17, and 26. And arrangements chosen from those made by the author between 1940 and 1950 are reproduced with them in the present revised and enlarged edition.
For the people who wish to use this book as a reference text for their arrangements, a brief graph is printed by the side of each arrangement showing its structure. The marks of 0 (signifying the first stem usually called "Shin"),  (the second stem called "Soe"), Δ (the third stem called "Hikae"), and T (signifying subordinate branches called "Jushi"), are the devices peculiar to the Sogetsu School, adopted, for showing the structure of an arrangement.
